About We Gotcha
Our Story
Hi, I’m Tyler — founder of We Gotcha Tutoring.
School wasn’t always easy for me. I found it boring and unstimulating, and my home life made it tough to stay focused. I coasted through with the bare minimum and was told by my high school counselor that I wasn’t “good enough” for college.
For a while, I believed him. I went to work at a General Motors factory — honest, hard work — but deep down, I wanted more. I enrolled in online community college, and everything changed. I fell in love with learning.
That passion brought me to New York City, where I double majored in Mathematics and Philosophy at City College of New York, and later earned a Master’s degree in Data Science from CUNY Graduate Center. Now, even outside of school, I still consider myself a lifelong learner (currently obsessed with drawing).
I started tutoring in New York, driven by a mission to help students — especially those from challenging backgrounds like mine — discover their potential. I wanted to create a space where students could feel seen, supported, and empowered to learn in a way that actually works for them. That’s how We Gotcha Tutoring was born.
We don’t just teach content. We teach students how to learn.
