Raise a Kid Who Can Figure Sh*t Out
"I told them I didn't have a brain built for math, and I never would. I passed the class anyway. Now I believe that I can do math, music, or anything else."

My daughter was having a difficult time in math, but since tutoring with We Gotcha her scores have improved tremendously.
My daughter was having a difficult time in math, but since tutoring with We Gotcha her scores have improved tremendously.

Why I Built We Gotcha
After more than a decade of tutoring, I kept noticing the same problem. Students didn't know how to learn without guidance. When they finished their homework and had grades solid enough to take a break, I'd ask them to go learn about something they were actually interested in. Most froze. That scared me, the things they wanted to explore were often the same things they dreamed about doing when they grew up. How were they supposed to get there if they couldn't even take the first step?
I couldn't figure out how to fix that until I started learning to draw from imagination. I'd just finished my master's and was broke, so real classes weren't an option. All I had was YouTube and free PDFs. Many of the artists I admired were self-taught, and what caught my attention wasn't how they drew, it was how they learned.
One idea kept coming up: everything is a skill, and talent is just a head start. Some people are wired to pick things up faster, but wiring can change. With enough practice, you can close that gap, sometimes even pass the person who started ahead.
That flipped a switch. I started studying how learning itself works, not just how to draw, and I improved faster than ever. That's when it hit me:
I kept thinking about those students who froze. If learning how to teach yourself could do this for me, it could do it for them too, not just in school, but in anything they wanted to chase. That's why I built We Gotcha. I want students to leave better at the subjects we worked on, and equipped to teach themselves anything, forever.
I wasn't just teaching myself to draw. I was learning how to teach myself.

How Sessions Actually Work
The First Session
The first session is a little different. The focus isn't homework. It's getting to know one another.
We'll talk about the student's goals, explain what to expect, and do a quick practice test to get a sense of where they are academically and what we should work on.
The Rest
Each session combines learning about learning with putting it into practice.
We'll introduce a skill from our Learning Curriculum, then use the student's schoolwork or another goal they're working toward to practice it.
Over time, the skills stop feeling like something they're being taught and start becoming how they naturally approach learning.
The Shift
Students start to approach difficult things differently.
Instead of immediately thinking “I can't do this,” they get curious. They ask questions, make connections, and try.
They learn from failure instead of being defined by it. Getting something wrong isn't proof that they're bad at something. It's information they can use to try again.
Services We Offer

We tutor math, English, science, history, and test prep, plus other subjects on request. We work with students from elementary school through college, and adults too.
All sessions are conducted online and run 50–60 minutes.
My daughter was getting D's and C's and just received her first A. I tried everything to get her interested in things, but nothing worked. Now she loves math and makeup and wants to go to college.
