Raise a Kid Who Can Figure Sh*t Out
"I told them I didn't have a brain built for math, and I never would. I passed the class anyway. Now I believe that I can do math, music, or anything else."
— T. Detrait, Former student, now chasing a career in music

My daughter was having a difficult time in math, but since tutoring with We Gotcha her scores have improved tremendously.
My daughter was having a difficult time in math, but since tutoring with We Gotcha her scores have improved tremendously.

We're not making students better at one subject.
We're helping them become better at learning for whatever comes next.
Why I Built We Gotcha
I learned fast that being smart made me a target, and home wasn't steady enough to fight two battles at once. So I gave it up. I acted dumber, blended in, and let other people decide who I was because it was easier than standing up for myself.
Over time the act became natural. A teacher called me white trash to my face. Counselors pushed me toward a trade. College never felt like mine to choose. I went straight to the same factory that had already used up my dad and grandpa.
Years later, tutoring, I started noticing something that bothered me more than bad grades. When I gave students the freedom to explore, most of them froze. They were so used to being told what to do that they didn't know how to decide for themselves. I recognized it instantly.
I didn't understand what was missing until I taught myself to draw from imagination, alone, with nothing but YouTube. For the first time in years, nobody was handing me a script. I had to decide what to learn and how to learn it on my own.
That's when I understood: the real skill I'd been missing wasn't drawing. It was ownership.
That's what I built We Gotcha to give my students: the confidence to take ownership of their learning, their goals, and eventually, their lives.
I knew I was capable of more. I just didn't know how to get there.

How Sessions Actually Work
The First Session
The first session is unique. The focus isn't homework. It's getting to know one another.
We'll talk about the student's goals, explain what to expect, and do a quick practice test to get a sense of where they are academically and what we should work on.
The Rest
Each session combines learning about learning with putting it into practice.
We'll introduce a skill from our Learning Curriculum, then use the student's schoolwork or another goal they're working toward to practice it.
Over time, the skills stop feeling like something they're being taught and start becoming how they naturally approach learning. Eventually, they need less guidance and become more confident taking the lead in their own education.
The Shift
Students start to approach difficult things differently.
Instead of immediately thinking “I can't do this,” they get curious. They ask questions, make connections, and try.
They learn from failure instead of being defined by it. Getting something wrong isn't proof that they're bad at something. It's information they can use to try again. Over time, they start to trust themselves to figure things out—even when they don't know the answer yet.
We want every student who leaves us confident enough to dream big, and equipped to go get it.
Services We Offer

We tutor math, English, science, history, and test prep, plus other subjects on request. We work with students from elementary school through college, and adults too.
Here’s where all of this gets put to work.
All sessions are conducted online and run 50–60 minutes.
My daughter was getting D's and C's and just received her first A. I tried everything to get her interested in things, but nothing worked. Now she loves math and makeup and wants to go to college.
- C. Roach
We Gotcha Tutoring was transformative for my son. He became a better student, and his confidence carried outside of the classroom. It's great to see him chase his dreams.
